The Out of Eden Learn relaunch: Timeline for the coming days

This is not so much a considered blog post as an update of what is going on and a breakdown of how our new launch process is going to work. I know that many of you are eager and ready to set off on a new learning journey with Out of Eden Learn – and so are we!

NOW: MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CLASSES ARE REGISTERED ON OUR WEBSITE

The concept of Out of Eden Learn is that we group diverse classes together. A class could be just one child – for example, in a home school situation – or as many as 40 students if you have a large class size. So, if you have several classes from the same grade level, you will need to sign up each class separately so that they can be allocated to different walking parties. If you participated last year, you will need to sign up new classes: it will be helpful to give them a different name. Please note that for the foreseeable future your old classes will still show up on your dashboard when you log in.

MONDAY: LOOK OUT FOR AN EMAIL ASKING YOU TO CONFIRM THAT YOU ARE READY TO PARTICIPATE IN OUT OF EDEN LEARN – AND RESPOND

Last year we introduced this step in the registration process to check that educators who registered classes on our website were still willing and able to participate in Out of Eden Learn. This step will also allow you to request that you be placed with an educator/class/school with whom you already have a relationship. We will certainly do our best to accommodate requests.

MID-WEEK: OUR NEW EDUCATORS’ GUIDE WILL BECOME AVAILABLE AND YOU WILL GET A GLIMPSE OF OUR NEW WEBSITE FORMAT

If you have not checked out our revised curriculum – i.e., the new six-footstep learning journey – you can do so right now. The accompanying educators’ guide, brings together an explanation of our learning goals, the underlying thinking behind our curriculum design, tips for classroom use, and additional resources. We are aiming to get it out to you mid-week.

THURSDAY-FRIDAY: WE WILL ASSIGN AND LAUNCH OUR FIRST WALKING PARTIES

For now, when you look at your educator dashboard, you will see “pending” next to your classes. That is because we have not yet assigned you to a walking party. When we do so and “launch” your walking party you will receive an email with details of the first footstep and further instructions. We encourage you to contact the other educators in your walking party as quickly as possible so that you can build up a rapport and exchange logistical details. You will use the blue connect button that will be available via your dashboard to do so once your walking party has launched.

IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS: GET YOUR STUDENTS TO CREATE THEIR OWN ACCOUNTS USING THE SPECIAL CODE FOR YOUR CLASS

Students should click on the orange Students Register button on the top right of our website and follow the instructions. Please note: you will need to log out from your educator account to see this button on your computer. Students will then be able to enter into their assigned walking party space from their “Homebase” when they log in.

START WALKING AND ENJOY!
